Explanations of terms

This section explains key DEXIOS terms that are regularly used throughout this documentation. A common understanding of these terms makes it easier to understand the described concepts & functions and to work with DEXIOS

Administrative units:

Administrative units are used to clearly organize and separate data in DEXIOS. For example, they can be used for various locations, branches, external companies or divisions of

Different types of data can be assigned to an administrative unit, for example: users, people & groups of people, companies, devices & device groups, locations and zones, roles, time models, booking types, qualifications, workflows, event configurations, offline systems.

Depending on the application scenario, an administrative unit can only contain data records of a specific type or even several different data types.

Each new data set created must be assigned to exactly one administrative unit. As a result, it is always clear to which organizational area the data belongs

Assignment to administrative units also forms the basis for authorization management. In this way, it is possible to determine which users are allowed to access or edit the data of specific administrative units. As a result, users only see the data for which they are authorized.

Source systems:

Source systems are used to clearly structure & identify the origin of data within DEXIOS.

They make it possible to understand whether & from which external system or interface a data set originates. This is particularly important when integrating third-party systems, such as SAP

A source system is assigned to each data set - this is done automatically & usually requires no user intervention. This makes it transparent whether data was created manually in DEXIOS or automatically imported from a connected system
